The Scottish Interiors Showcase 2017

The dramatic Victorian architecture and rolling hills surrounding the DoubleTree Hilton at Dunblane provided the backdrop once again for this year’s Scottish Interior’s Showcase. The site played host to a melting pot of creative talents, its grand hallways illuminated as all manner of interiors suppliers showcased their new products and latest collections. Spoiled for choice we caught up with some of our favourite designers and suppliers, as well as some new ones!

Top on the agenda for our team was searching through the new fabric books, wallpaper designs and paint collections for fresh inspiration. Soft and vibrant watercolours are very much in vogue at the moment with Designer’s Guild showcasing striking contemporary florals and vibrant digitally printed damasks. Surrounded by colour palette of bright pinks, cobalts and inky prints, we were immersed in a summertime secret garden.

We were particularly taken with their plain linen overstitched cushions, made in two contrasting colour ways, perfect for our showroom! Ralph Lauren did not disappoint, showcasing an eclectic new collection with striped wools, checks, printed designs and embroidery.

Abraham Moon stayed true to form with some valuable additions to their Moorland Collection. Less traditional than the likes of Heritage but with less edge than the Cosmopolitan and Elemental Collections, the new Moorland II introduce some contemporary checks enriching neutrals with dashes of rich raspberry and turquoise.

Oozing grandeur the GP & J Baker room was awash with rich textures and traditional florals. They have introduced a new selection of durable, competitively priced velvets to be included in their Baker Lifestyle range this year as well as showcasing their recently released King’s Velvet, which we have been using in some recent projects. This thick pile, luxurious velvet is aptly named and looked regal on a laid back arm chair, set off perfectly with contrasting scatters. A traditional floral velvet was couple with a contrasting scatter cushion in their sharp, contemporary Cardinal Stripes for an eye-catching pairing.

Aside from pouring over fabric books, we had the chance to catch up with the team from Whitehead Designs. New to our website last week, their striking Arque Chair already looked timeless with its polished wooden plinth and tapered legs. Displayed in two-tone geometric patterned fabric, the chair looked equally at home in checks from Moon which featured in our February newsletter. The Soho chair too was elegant upholstered in a textured silver grey velvet. A contemporary chair of uncomplicated design, the Soho wouldn’t look out of place in a boutique hotel lobby or chic dining room.

Of course we couldn’t leave the Whitehead stand without resting our weary legs. The Oxford sofa with its simple design arms looked stylish and understated in white linen. With its straight back and square arms it was supportive and oh so comfortable! You simply sink into the Oxford, just proving that you should never judge a couch by its cover.

Whitehead also unveiled their latest addition: The Mayfair. This truly beautiful Chesterfield sofa is slightly lower its traditional sister, featuring sumptuous duck feather and down seat cushions it is supremely comfortable and sits elegantly on polished turned legs. This is definitely one to sink into. The Mayfair’s modern twist was accentuated with pale green linen upholstery used on their display piece. The Mayfair is next on our wish list for our showroom and you can already find it on our website!

Tired and inspired, we’ll be returning to our showroom brimming with ideas for our latest projects. New fabric books from Ralph Lauren and Designer’s guild will be added to our fabric room this week, why not pop into our Perth showroom for a peak? We also have some more very exciting new stock additions, not quite out from under wraps yet but keep an eye on our Latest News or follow us on Facebook for new developments and updates on all of our current projects.
